Wellness has become a central topic of conversation here at CDR, and we’re proud to hear of a meaningful new initiative called the Peer Reflection Group. The pilot has been launched with those serving children ages 0-5 within the Head Start Program, including Early Head Start, Head Start Home-Based, and Child Care Partnership.
This platform provides an opportunity for participants to share personal ideas, strategies, and resources related to wellness in a supportive, confidential, and engaging environment
Benefits of a Peer Reflection Group

Over the past few months, the Peer Reflection Group has sparked open and insightful discussions on a variety of important topics that impact staff’s well-being. From the benefits of herbs and healthy eating, fitness & nutrition, emotional check-ins, and work-life balance, the conversations have been rich, diverse, and incredibly beneficial.
Recently, the group discussed healthy cultural traditions which included the cutting and sharing of a Rosca de Reyes, a tradition in Mexico and other parts of Latin America, celebrated on January 6 for Día de los Reyes Magos (Three Kings Day).
Each month, an invitation is sent out to team members, inviting them to join the conversation and take part in a session that aligns with their interests and needs. Facilitators are selected from the group, allowing everyone an opportunity to lead and contribute, making the sessions more interactive and engaging. Both Zoom and in-person options are offered to ensure flexibility and make it easier for everyone to participate.
The Peer Reflection Group has proven to be a great success in connecting team members, sharing helpful wellness tips, and building a positive, supportive culture. It’s more than just a wellness initiative, it’s about creating meaningful relationships and empowering each other to take better care of ourselves, both physically and emotionally.
